MY AIM
Committed to ensuring that you as my student not only achieve a good grasp of the school syllabus/ subject matter taught but also excel in lateral, creative and critical thinking skills. The ability to think out of the box, I believe is an essential tool for continued success. Tried and tested strategies of solving problems through easy to follow practical scenarios will be used as part of the teaching method.

My field of expertise is Mathematics and Science Stream subjects such as Chemistry, Physics and Additional Mathematics. Those students who have been under my guidance have always requested me to further coach them for their following years of education as they understand the respective subjects as a whole and not merely by memorizing information.

MY OBJECTIVES & GOALS:
My main objective is to ensure that my student understands the lessons being taught by grasping the necessary concepts in the syllabus being taught. Rote learning is not encouraged as it is the ability to digest information through understanding that is more important. This I believe will give my students the competitive edge especially in relation to application of what is learnt to questions posed. My passion for teaching and my commitment to my students will help in motivating my students and will ensure that learning remains enjoyable. My medium of teaching will be in both Bahasa Melayu and English so as to provide exposure to both these languages. If however a preference of one of these languages over the other is indicated then the student’s request will be adhered to.


LESSON FORMAT
The first session will entail a written and/or verbal test to ascertain the student’s current grasp of the subject. There will also be a short interview with the student during which the student will be able to provide some feedback on areas that he/she thinks may require special attention based on the subject matter taught in school. Once the level of competence is determined a lesson plan will be tailor made for the student depending on his/her strengths and weaknesses.

Each session will include a discussion and explanation of the subject matter or topic to be covered in that session. This will be followed by exercises to be certain that students have understood the subject matter covered. Based on the exercises done by the student any difficulties encountered will be addressed. At the end of each module there will be a discussion on past year questions to further enhance comprehension of the information.

To ensure that information is easily understood and better retained the use of audio visual aids in the form of power point presentations incorporating mind maps and charts will also be employed. Where applicable certain tools such as mnemonics will be used to aid memory and encourage recall. These tools however will only be used when absolutely necessary so as not to encourage rote learning.
